PROPOSED PAYMENT FLOW
Person-to-person payments over time
FireTerms is a marketplace for physical goods. People can list and negotiate cash purchases. Where available, a seller may choose to accept an offer paid over time. The seller, rather than FireTerms, decides whether to accept the buyer and bears the risk of missed payments.
Cash purchase
Buyer and seller agree on a price. A future checkout would collect one payment for the seller through an approved payment processor. The seller would receive the payout after the payment succeeds, subject to processor timing, refunds, and disputes.
Payments over time
Buyer proposes a purchase price, first payment, payment frequency (weekly, every two weeks, or monthly), number of payments, and first due date. The seller can accept, counter, or decline. New proposals currently carry 0% interest, with the same advertised asking price for cash or payments. Negotiated offers may be lower or higher than that asking price. The buyer sees the full schedule and total before any future payment authorization. If processing is approved, the seller would receive funds as each payment succeeds; FireTerms would not advance the unpaid balance or guarantee repayment.
Accounts and fees
Browsing does not require an account. Buyers and sellers must sign in to negotiate. At launch, both cash and payment-plan transactions are planned to require identity verification: sellers before publishing, buyers before submitting offers or entering deals. Sellers must also complete separate processor payment onboarding before receiving payouts. Identity checks are not active in this preview. FireTerms plans to charge the seller a disclosed platform fee on successful installment payments. Processor fees and final fee disclosures will be shown to the seller before checkout is enabled. Buyers do not pay the seller platform fee.

Availability and disputes
Listing an item does not make it eligible for a FireTerms payment plan. Vehicle listings are cash/contact only; payment proposals are currently limited by category and location. Refunds, item disputes, failed payments, chargebacks, and payout timing require a final processor-supported workflow before transactions begin.
Current development status
Listings and offer negotiation are in development. No FireTerms checkout, recurring payment collection, seller payout, signed installment agreement, or credit-bureau reporting is active. Accepting an offer in this preview does not charge either party. Payment methods and recurring collection are subject to processor review and approval.
